Who would have thought you could have a Bedbug biter on a BA flight whilst in Business class. Well that’s exactly what happened to a man recently who was bitten over 150 times by Bedbugs whilst on a flight to Cape Town. The flight cost him £4,000!

Bedbugs or any other Pests for that matter do not understand (or care) about how rich or poor we are. In this case, Bedbugs are only interested in one thing – ‘dinner time’.

We regularly undertake Bedbug treatments on many different types of homes. To a Bedbug food is food and all they need is blood to survive whether it be from a king or a pauper!
However many airlines now employ Bedbug Detector Dogs to check aircraft.

Bedbugs being present in homes, hotels etc, we are much more used to hearing about. In the UK now with our tourist numbers soaring and us Brits travelling more also, we are generally  seeing a much more increased prevalence of Bedbugs. It is a known fact that hoteliers are reluctant to close any hotel room if they experience a Bedbug infection, due to the financial impact such closures would have on their business.

However we would always encourage people to be ‘Bedbug savvy’ and use the tips and hints we have given in previous blogs regarding Bedbugs, to keep yourself safe whilst away from home and avoid bringing back any unwanted guests! Just to remind you:-

  • Never put your suitcase or bag directly onto the bed when you enter your hotel room
  • Check the bed thoroughly. Bedbugs are visible unlike Bed Mites which are microscopic
  • Check thoroughly around the head board of the bed for any signs of infestation. A thorough check when you arrive at your hotel can save you a lot of money and inconvenience when you get home.
