An interesting article came to our attention on the ITV news recently. This is in relation to how customer service must be at the forefront of the service you provide to customers
The topic of interest was the Food Standard Agency who are the governing body that produces the Food Hygiene Scores. The ones you see on the windows and doors of restaurants and food outlets with scores of 0 – 5 .
The Environmental Health Authority (EHO) have massive powers to close down establishments if they feel that the food outlet is producing food that could be a hazard to human health.
In the article the EHO Officer had found Mouse droppings under a sink area of a premises. He asked the owner when the Pest Control Company had last been to visit. It amazes me how many food outlets I visit dont have any Pest Control service in place! When dealing with a Pest infestation in a business, we are already on the back foot! Ideally, we should be brought in to a business as a preventative measure not when the problem is already there.
Our job in a commercial premises, is based around Pest prevention. In this time of Social Media, a Mouse running across a restaurant floor could go viral in minutes! In days gone by, a number of people may see it, who may relay this to others. But something ‘viral’ can eventually close your business.
The other point, could be that it may not be just vermin! We are constantly monitoring for any Insect Pest threats. Placing Insect monitoring stations in and around places such as kitchens and storage areas.
Part of our service, is to monitor for potential problems highlighting risk areas and offering advice on how to minimize risk. This is not always ‘high tech’. It can be something as simple as looking at the position of waste bins. Or how often they are emptied.
