Bird Pressure is defined by the level of commitment to an area for nesting, roosting, eating and spending time of pest birds in any given location.
Bird Pressure dictates the bird control strategy used by the Pest Doctor.
The three types of Bird Pressure:
-
Light Bird Pressure
Level of commitment is low. There are limited food and shelter resources in these areas but birds may still stop and spend some time during the day. Bird wire may be considered as a solution to prevent bird pests becoming a problem in these areas.
-
Medium Bird Pressure
These areas offer food and rest sites for birds but may not offer the shelter required for roosting and nesting. Bird netting, spikes and coils are common solutions but other bird deterrents may be necessary.
-
Heavy Bird Pressure
Birds are not easily deterred from regular roosting and nesting spots that offer the shelter and protection from the elements from these areas. Generations of birds may have been nesting and roosting for many years in these locations. Bird netting and bird spikes are common solutions but electric bird deterrents or other bird control solutions may be necessary.
Pigeons and seagulls are the most common bird pest problems but other bird species, such as crow and starling, may present significant pest problems in certain locations. Bird Control solutions used by the Pest Doctor are only considered after a full Bird Control Survey.
