We are fast approaching the end of the bird nesting season and it's really important to act now if you think birds have been nesting under your house tiles or sofats and now is the time to act to stop these visitors returning again next year. Not many people may know that when birds start to nest typically around spring time, the nest, eggs, chicks and adult birds are all protected and once nesting begins there is nothing you can do to protect your home or business until later in the season.
It is not always just about the noise or the visual aspects (e.g. droppings etc which can erode paintwork and be a health hazard) but what people don’t realise is that up to 33 insects can invade your home or business as a direct result from birds nesting. If the nest is in a loft then Insects can find their way into the home finding dark areas such as behind wardrobes, cupboards to live. They like nothing more than to feed on textiles and carpets. Equally, they can find their way in through open windows if the nest is in the sofats.
It’s really important to be vigilant about any holes in clothes, fabrics or threadbare carpet areas. and act now at this time of year.
